Content marketing isn’t contentmarketing without great visuals

How well do the images you use fit with the rest of your online content? As good as a nice fitting dress? Or more like a loose-fitting sofa suit? Images, edited or pure, also called visuals, are often added last. Without really thinking about it. A missed opportunity! We are happy to explain why images are so important for your content marketing.

CONTENT MARKETING WITH IMAGES THAT SPEAK TO YOU

Images are not intended to embellish your site, your emails or your Facebook. Of course, the eye also wants something. Images add more.  They should ‘speak’.

WHAT DO YOUR IMAGES CONVEY?

Take a look back at the images you used. Take a critical look at them. Do the images convey a message? At a glance, these pictures have to make your point across.

WHICH PHOTOS DO YOU USE?

Tips like “don’t do this, don’t do that” are of little use to you. I prefer to give tips on how to do it. Be creative, see opportunities and come up with solutions. That’s what I stand for. And using them, of course.

Tip 1: Make sure you write down what kind of image fits with your story, while writing it. Even if it’s in your head. Which persona (see my blog about target groups) are you thinking about? What scene do you see in front of you? In what setting? And in what style?

Tip 2: Editing is fine. That way, a photo can fit perfectly into your story. Working with filters is fun. That’s what makes Instagram so cool. As a ‘layman’ you can turn a photo into a visual spectacle.

Tip 3: Preferably use your own photos. Made from appropriate settings, beautiful areas, typical items, your customers… or – better – have them made by a professional. Let it be your photos, connect with your target audience. So discuss this in advance with the man or woman behind the camera.

Tip 4: Still use other images? Please note that not every photo can be used just like that, because of the quality and the rights. At unsplash.com you may find the image you are looking for.

Tip 5: Stick to the basics: the right size (for Facebook, for example) works wonders. A high-quality picture can add to your look, your feel. Filters are possible, but you should most certainly add a slogan or quote that fits in with your house style. And don’t forget your logo!

IMAGES THAT MATCH: CONTENT MARKETING THAT FITS LIKE A GLOVE!

If you combine all of these principles, the images will match your message. This appeals to the viewer and he or she becomes a fan, a member or a customer more quickly.
